| The PGA Tour contests the Cialis Western Open at Cog Hill Golf
& Country Club in Lemont, Illinois. This tournament was first held 1899 and has been
won by many of the all-time golfing greats over the years. This year, defending champion
Tiger Woods is returning in the hope of achieving his fourth Western Open victory. The
European Tour International Schedule heads of to The K Club in Dublin, Ireland for the
Smurfit European Open. Phillip Price of Wales will be looking to emulate the performances
of Lee Westwood (1999-2000) and Per-Ulrik Johansson (1996-1997) who have successfully
defended their title at this tournament since it moved to Dublin.
The Champions Tour is back in action with the Commerce Bank Long Island Classic at The
Red Course, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, New York. Jim Thorpe is defending champion of
this tournament which is now in its 18th year as an official Champions Tour event.
The LPGA Tour is holding its third major tournament of the year, the U.S. Womens Open,
at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Curtis Cup stars Michelle Wie
and Paula Creamer are among 15 amateurs competing against the top lady professionals.
Hiliary Lunke returns to defend her title but is sure to face a stiff challenge especially
from Grace Park and Annika Sorenstam both of whom already have a major title to their name
this season.
