ShopRite LPGA Classic
Marriott Seaview Resort & Spa, Galloway Township, New Jersey
June 18-20, 2004 |
| Kerr wins 2nd Title of 2004 |
|
| Cristie Kerr made a 9-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the
ShopRite LPGA Classic by one shot over Giulia Sergas and Paula Creamer. It came down
to the final hole which Kerr birdied from 9 feet. Kerr's playing partner, 17-year-old
amateur, Creamer and Sergas, in the final group behind them, both missed birdie chances
which would have forced a playoff. This was Kerr's third win on the LPGA Tour and second
this year having won the Takefuji Classic in April.
Creamer, who was instrumental in the USA Team's recent Curtis Cup victory, finished
just one shot away from being only the fifth amateur to win an LPGA tournament. She has
another opportunity next week to become the youngest winner in the history of the Tour. |
