Hello my golfing friends,

Looking at the last couple of week's results it would appear that a good way of helping to predict the winner of professional golf tounaments might be to see which players have got a birthday coming up. Last week, Steve Flesch won on his birthday and this week's winners include Scott Drummond (birthday last Saturday) and Hale Irwin (this Thursday). Not very scientific, I know, but it's another one of those little coincidences that keep cropping up. Maybe this week's winners will be overweight and blond, your guess is as good as mine. One thing is for sure, we're in for some great action with strong fields at all the events this week.

The final deadline for U.S. Open exemptions by virtue of being in the Official World Golf Ranking top 50 has been reached and details of the outcome can be found in our article on the "Other Golf News" page.
