Sybase Classic presented by Lincoln
Mercury
Wykagyl Country Club, New Rochelle, NY
May 20-23, 2004 |
| Sherri's back! - Steinhauer
wins Sybase Classic |
| Sherri Steinhauer came back from her worst season on the LPGA Tour and
almost five years without a win to claim her sixth Tour title at the Sybase Classic this
weekend. 41-year-old Steinhauer's final round 69 gave her a total of 272 for a two shot
victory over Grace Park. Having made par on each of the front nine holes she took the lead
with a birdie on the 10th and didn't let go of it for the rest of the round. Further
birdies came on 14 and 15 and despite a bogey on 16 she brought her experience to bear and
completed her round with a pair of solid pars. Her winner's check for $187,500 is more
than her earnings for the last two seasons combined and moves her up to 12th place on the
ADT Money List with 2004 prize money of $233,480. Grace Park's runner-up prize of
$113,364 moves her to the top of the 2004 ADT Money List with a total of $652,089. |

Allianz Championship

| Weibring wins Allainz |

|
D.A. Weibring finished with an even-par round of 71 on Sunday to complete
a wire-to-wire victory in the Allainz Championship in West Des Moines, Iowa. His 204 total
gave him a three shot win over Tom Jenkins who shot a final round 70. Weibring has been
knocking at the door of victory with 4 top-tens in the previous five starts and not a
single round over par during that run. He increased that statistic this week making it a
current run of 19 rounds in par or better. His earnings this week of $225,000 moved him up
into fifth place on the 2004 Champions Tour Money List. |
