Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship
hosted by Nancy Lopez
Eagle's Landing Country Club, Stockbridge, GA
April 29 - May 2, 2004 |
| Debut Title for Jennifer
Rosales at Chick-Fil-A |
| One event which wasn't plagued by weather delays was the Chick-Fil-A
Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez, although overnight showers allowed for the use
of preferred lies on Sunday. The early rounds were dominated by teenager, Aree Song, who
celebrated her 18th birthday on Saturday by holding on to the lead and looked like taking
the record as the youngest player to win an LPGA Tour event. However, it was all change on
Sunday when Jennifer Rosales of the Phillipines put in a bogey-free round of 65 to come
from 4 shots back and clinch her debut LPGA title with a 14 under par total of 274. Song
carded a disappointing 78 to drop back into a share of 23rd place. Grace Park was one of
four players who shared the runner-up spot, one shot behind the winner on 275, but her
winnings were enough to take her to the top of the ADT money list above Annika Sorenstam
who finished with a share of tenth place on 278. |

Fleisher wins by Seven |

Bruce Fleisher, last year's runner-up at this event, went one better
on Sunday with a comfortable seven stroke victory at the Bruno's Memorial Classic, his
second win in 2004 and his 18th career win on the Champions Tour. After the start of
Sunday's round was postponed until the afternoon in order to allow the overnight rain to
dry up, Fleisher took his 4 shot lead and continued his dominance of the tournament. When
he birdied 13, 14 and 15 it was clear that nobody was going to catch him. He finished with
a four under par 68 for a total of 200.
Bruce Lietzke shot a 5 under 67 to move up into a share of second place on 207 with
D.A. Weibring (71) and defending champion, Tom Jenkins (71) was a shot further back in
fourth. |
