Hello my
golfing friends,
If someone had told me a couple of weeks ago that e-mail could be
delayed by rain, I would have laughed at them. But for the second week running we have not
been able to send out our newsletter because of rain delays at the Tournaments and the
knock-on effect of things like World Golf Rankings not being published until Tuesday.
The rain delays don't seem to have adversely effected one person,
namely Vijay Singh, who won on Monday for the second consecutive week and his fourth
Monday career win. He now has three titles to his credit in 2004 and heads the Money List
on over $4million with only one third of the year behind us. Seems like a good time to
feature him in our weekly Player Profile spot. In the
final paragraph I discuss the way that the Official World Golf Rankings are calculated.
One small change to the system would reflect the fact that, on recent form, Vijay Singh
should be ranked world #1. Please let me have your feedback for an upcoming article on the
subject of World Rankings.
For those of you who didn't have time to read last week's issue, I'd
like to give a quick mention again to our weekly cartoon strips
which are being drawn exclusively for Golfing Weekly by Roy Doty. Because
of their width we have set them up to open in a new window. If you have any problems
reading them please let us know.
That's it for now. Don't forget, if there is anything you would like us
to add to Golfing Weekly, or if you have any comments you would like to
make, just drop us a line. This is your magazine and we want you to enjoy reading
it as much as we enjoy putting it together.
All the best,
Andy Smith
