40 year old Jiménez turned professional in 1982, aged 18 and went through qualifying school 4 times in the 1980s. His first European Tour win came in 1992 at the Piaget Belgian Open where his earnings of £100,000 were more than he had previously earned in a year.
Eight more European Tour victories have followed since then. 1994; Heineken Dutch Open, 1998; Turespaña Masters Open Baleares, Trophee Lancome, 1999; Turespaña Masters - Open Andalucia, VOLVO MASTERS, 2003; Turespaña Mallorca Classic, 2004; Johnnie Walker Classic, Algarve Open de Portugal Caixa Geral de Depositos.

In 1999 Jiménez represented Europe in the Ryder Cup and although the team lost 14.5/13.5 he acquitted himself well, winning one of his matches and halving two more. He is currently striving to ensure he is selected for the 2004 Ryder cup Matches due to be held in September and on his form so far this year he would certainly be an asset to the team.
