Hello
my golfing friends,
Welcome to the first issue of Golfing Weekly. Id like to
take this opportunity to share with you my vision of what Id like this magazine to
be. Firstly, we are not a large faceless publishing corporation that cares more about our
big corporate advertisers than we do about our readers. Quite the opposite. Over the
weeks, I hope you will get to know me and my small team of enthusiastic helpers, all of us
golfers to one degree or another. We want to give you what you want to read each week and
to that end, I shall often be asking for your help and advice. I know we cant please
all the golfers all of the time, but were going to give it our best shot. The more
feedback we get from you, the more likely well be able to produce a magazine that
youll look forward to reading each week.
The Internet is a wonderful thing because it allows us to publish this
truly international magazine from a small Spanish island near the west coast of Africa. In
this and the next couple of issues of Golfing Weekly Id like to introduce you
to the Canary Islands, where I live. We are very fortunate here to enjoy quite a pleasant
climate and just a few days of rainfall each year. With almost guaranteed sunshine and
around twenty beautiful golf courses, it is hardly surprising that this is the most
popular winter golfing destination in Europe. In this weeks issue we are featuring
the largest island, Tenerife.
In future issues we shall be taking you to visit beautiful golf courses
in every corner of the globe. If you are heading off to play golf away from your home
course, tell us where you are going and we will pay your green fees if you would like to
be a guest reviewer.
For many of you, the weather you are experiencing at this time of year
means that your opportunities to get out and play a round of golf are limited. As the new
golf season approaches well be helping you tune up your game with some practice
routines that you can do at home, ready for when the weather improves.
Finally, may I say that Im really looking forward to providing
you with the best golfing information in the months and years to come. We have many
additional features planned for future issues and as I mentioned before, if there is
anything you would like us to include, just drop us a line. This is your magazine and we
hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy putting it together.
All the best,
Andy Smith
